Apple plans to release second-generation AirPods Pro in the second half of 2022, said renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on twitter today.

While second-generation headphones have remained available for purchase since Apple released third-generation AirPods last year, Kuo said Apple may stop releasing the original AirPods Pro if new ones are released later this year. Apple announced AirPods Pro on October 30, 2019, making them nearly two and a half years old.

Kuo also said demand for third-generation AirPods was “much weaker” than for second-generation AirPods, causing Apple to cut orders for third-generation AirPods from vendors by at least 30% in the second and third quarters of this year. .

Earlier, Kuo said that the second-generation AirPods Pro will have a “significantly upgraded” wireless chip compared to the H1 chip in the original AirPods Pro. The chip provides audio-related features such as active noise reduction, and improvements in this technology can increase battery life for longer listening times on a single charge. Kuo also expects the new AirPods Pro to support lossless audio in Apple Music.

Earlier, Kuo also claimed that the new AirPods Pro charging case will be able to emit sound that will help users find it when it is inappropriate. The charging case is also likely to be waterproof, as is the third-generation AirPods charging case.

BloombergMark Gourmet and Debbie Wu have previously reported that Apple has tested a more compact design for the new AirPods Pro, which eliminates the legs that fall below the headphones. If it ends up being the final design, the new AirPods Pro could look similar to Apple’s Beats Studio Buds released last year.

Gourmet and Wu also claimed that the new AirPods Pro will have motion sensors for the ability to track fitness along with the Apple Watch.
